Aussie Maestro Set For Reading FC Move?

Tom Rogic. The player dubbed an ‘Aussie Maestro’ has received an extensive amount of interest from many European clubs just in time for the upcoming transfer window. The 20 year old’s impressive displays for Central Coast Mariners in Australia’s A-League has earned him 4 appearances for the Australia national team. Rogic was part of the ‘Nike football academy’ during his youth days, actually winning ‘The Chance’ competition which meant that Rogic was declared one of the best eight young footballers in the world.

Operating as an attacking midfielder, his eye-catching performances for his club have seen him become one of the best upcoming talents emerging from Australia. Rogic has already admitted to the media that his dream is to play in the English Premier League. Also admitting he is a Manchester United fan, and saying how he would often stay up late in his native Australia to watch the red devils. Rogic also said how he likes to emulate his game around Ryan Giggs, with Giggs being Rogic’s idol from a very young age. Reading attempted to sign the 20-year-old last year, but British work permit issues prevented the move and forced Rogic to return to Australia. It is believed Reading will return with another bid in the upcoming January transfer window. Nick Hammond, Reading’s director of football has also admitted that they are monitoring Rogic’s situation;

“We’ve been monitoring Tom closely for the past year or so and were really disappointed when we couldn’t sign him because of those work permit issues.

“He’s been doing really well and is a smashing lad. I have no doubt he has the potential to play in the Premier League.

“When we first tried to sign him (on a three-year deal) we were in the Championship but our opinion of him has only got higher as we have watched him continue to excel for the Mariners, who are a great club.

“I can’t say whether something will happen in January but it’s not impossible. That said he is (under contract) with another club who we have great respect for and we will just have to wait and see whether anything comes of it.”

Without doubt, Rogic has the potential to succeed wherever he ends up. I would recommend keeping an eye on this emerging Australian talent, as his potential see’s no end.
